YOUNG FRIENDS OS SION (JOVENS AMIGOS SIONENSES - JAS)

The project
Meetings for coexistence and social actions promoted by the Pastoral of Sion that, through the Young Friends of Sion (JAS) group, endeavor to promote attitudes with higher intensity in responsible solidarity and care for others among students, faculty and employees, in the local and global environment.

Participants
The JAS group is comprised of students from both School of Our Lady of Sion venues in Curitiba, and currently studying between the sixth grade and the end of Secondary Education.

Actions
Members promote community campaigns and drives to collect foods, toys and winter clothing that are donated to disenfranchised institutions, in particular on special dates, like Easter, Children’s day and Christmas.

AT THE SERVICE OF THE ENVIRONMENT, AT THE SERVICE OF LIFE

The Project
Through the MovimentaSion group, the School is challenged to raise the awareness of students, faculty, employees and their families with respect to actions in social mobility and environmental sustainability.

Participants
The MovimentaSion group is formed by students in the eighth grades of the School.

Actions
Students work together to help those most in need, by collection and donation of hygiene materials, clothing, food and other basic necessity goods, in addition to toys and books. All the material collected is delivered to social assistance entities.

ENTERPRISING PROJECT - SION IN SOLIDARITY

The Project
The slogan of the Sion in Solidarity Project is “The biodiversity of today is the future of tomorrow”. The objective is to raise awareness, not just in the students, but in the faculty and families as well, to the conservation of biodiversity, showing different ways of learning and teaching its importance.

Participants
The Project is totally carried out by students in the 8th grade.

Actions
For eight years now, School of Our Lady of Sion has had a partnership with the Cristo Redentor Day Care Center, which addresses disenfranchised children from the community and promotes actions targeted at meeting some of the institution’s needs. In 2011, during the Cultural Expo, recycled products were sold – T-shirts, reusable bags, etc. – and foods produced with natural ingredients and the income obtained was totally reverted to the day care center.

ONE FOR ALL AND ALL FOR ONE

The Project
The objective is to educate for a practice of economy of solidarity, of care for the creation and valuing of life as the most precious good. In the beginning of the Project, students read and discuss Fernando Carraro’ book “Quem ama partilha (If you love, share)”. In the book, the main character perceives how solidarity has become part of his life.

Participant
Participants in the Project are students from the fifth grade.

Actions
After being awakened to the need of acting with more solidarity in society, students visit institutions of disenfranchised children and youths, and also senior homes. In addition to delivering basic needs goods, students bring a bit of cheer to the lives of these people with theater and music performances.

VOLUNTEERS OF SION

The Project
The objective of the volunteer work is to practice citizenship and experience the spirituality of Sion, responding to the issues of our times aware that spirituality is not just connected to individuals, but also to interacting with others. The intention is to respond to mankind’s cry, because it is in history and in coexisting with differences that we will find God.

Participants
Parents, students, religious sisters, faculty and the community of Vila Maria can all participate in the actions of the Volunteers of Sion.

Actions
Volunteers of Sion carry out social assistance campaigns. Students are made aware of the importance of collaborating in improving the quality of human life by donating hygiene materials, clothing, food and other daily consumables to disenfranchised institutions. During the School sales, Volunteers of Sion sells food products and the income is given over to Project Oasis, of the Congregation of Our Lady of Sion, in the state of Sergipe.
